Parking fine from Parking Eye

Hi all, apologies as I know there’s a lot of threads on this but was hoping to tailor responses for some non-techy people!

My septuagenarian mum and step dad have received a number of parking fines by post from councils and one from Parking Eye. They were all from places I know for a fact they won’t have visited (they never go anywhere!) but it’s clear their car has been cloned. Parking Eye are giving the most trouble and I have read various accounts that they are a charlatan company who are very difficult to deal with. My stepdad has sent evidence to them by recorded post and they are saying they’ve not received it. Neither of them know much about technology so don’t have smart phones etc to help matters.

Parking Eye say the car was seen at a pub which they definitely weren’t at, their photos are black and white and grainy and don’t show the original dealer that the car came from, in the plates.

Is it just as much PE’s responsibility to prove my mum and stepdad’s real car was in this car park as it is theirs to prove it wasn’t?

PE, it is their task to prove their case as claimant against a defendant, even if that is in the small claims court

PE have 6 years to try the small claims court

have they reported this to 101 and got a reference ?

it is their word against that of P.E., but they may have to convince a judge of this, unfortunately

but yes, the burden of proof is on P.E. to prove their claim

Pleased to say they had a letter from PE today saying the fine has been cancelled! He does have an incident number from the police and presumably still needs to report the clone to DVLA - i have seen some email addresses for Mr Dunford, is he the best person to contact?
