I suppose it was to be expected https://www.which.co.uk/news/2018/12/cheap-energy-deals-vanish-as-the-price-cap-comes-in/

Did anyone, apart from a few deluded individuals in government and OFGEM, honestly expect this to pan out any differently ?0

I'll put forward an alternative view. I don't think ALL cheap energy deals have vanished. And, assuming rising wholesale prices is not a red-herring, would anybody expect to be paying less for energy compared with 1 year ago?
The price cap may have evened prices out but surely it's been beneficial to some of BG's customers?0 -
The price cap was designed to benefit those who don't switch. Those who do switch will have to pay more so that the non switchers can benefit.
Sucks.

this also happened with pre pay , i am a low user and used ebigo , who did not charge standing charge , but where an odd copper per unit more than other companies
max price per unit was set by OFGEn , so they stopped , every payg company then set piece to max allowed by government0
