Collection only not posting

I put a mattress topper for sale clearly marked as a collection only item. I had a buyer who doesn't communicate much but she then paid through Paypal. I asked when she would be collecting and she said she thought it would be posted!

If i cancel this order I get penalised , not to mention Paypal and Ebay fees. In theory I could post it but it sold cheaply already and I hadn't factored Postage fees into the equation either!

Any help appreciated:(

Firstly read the sticky thread about collection only items. I assume you set the postage as 'collection only' , I've seen a lot of auctions where sellers mistakenly put free postage and then mention collection only in the body of the text .

I would contact the buyer again and say that as they are unable to collect that you will cancel the sale and refund their money. Then on eBay cancel sale using the option 'problems with buyers address' and that automatically refunds the PayPal payment, all except for 20p which PayPal will retain.

  • Or go back and ask the buyer for a further payment to cover postage.

If you have clearly marked the collection only, then it's the buyers problem.
