                    Hello,
The quick story is that I was claiming jobseeker's allowance and housing benefit. In mid September I found work, so signed off from the jobcentre. I also filled in a change of circumstance form for the housing benefit and took in proof of my income.
I heard nothing for nearly 2 months until I received a letter regarding my housing benefit, stating that from mid september to late october I had been receiving housing benefit. Now, I am aware that if you find work and prove your income you are entitled to some housing benefit run on, so I thought this was normal. However they are stating that they are going to be claiming back this money as I was not entitled to it.
I sent them a letter stating that I wish to appeal the decision as I had found work and was entitled to a 4-week run on of housing benefit. They sent me a reply yesterday stating that I need to take in to them proof of my income(which I can do), but also proof that I signed off from the jobcentre because I had found work. The problem with that is, I have no idea how I'm supposed to prove I signed off from the jobcentre because of finding work. The jobcentre sent me nothing regarding it.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Call the job centre, explain the issue, and ask them to send you a letter confirming that you signed off.
Or, if it was paid directly into your account, show them the statements that show it stopped.
Or even better, do both.0 -
What benefit did you get from the DWP?
How long did you claim it for?
When did you apply for the 4 week run on?I enjoy flower arranging, kittens, devil worship, the study of serial killers and their methods and road kill jigsaws.0 -
Were you were claiming a qualifying benefit for at least 26 weeks and expect the work to last at least 5 weeks, working more than 16 hours per week. If this applies to you then the 4 week run on should be done automatically.

If you contact the dwp next week on 08001690310 they will do a letter confirming the date you signed off as soon as you get it pass it to your local council. What you can do is contact the council tell them that you are going to get a letter and they will usually put a hold on the account x0
