Hi all
I'm moving to the UK from US and am looking to change bank accounts from my basic Nationwide to something that may provide me some value.
I know about Barclays Premier, HSBC Premier, RBS/Natwest premier.
Does anyone know any smaller, maybe more personal service options?
thanks much all

Did you sort out the fraudulent credit card opened up by your sister?
Is there a default on your credit file?
Any bank will open an account for you - dependent on your credit file and that you can prove your UK address.0 -
You could try Handelsbanken, they do not use traditional credit scoring, everything is approved through the branch.
They will charge a fee, but they do provide a much more personal service if that’s your cup of tea.
However expect to hand over 6 months bank statements and be scrutinised.0 -
I did get it resolved!! That was a nightmare.
She ended up confessing and I did not press charges, but she had to repay the money to the credit card companies. I did not have any negative consequences credit wise thankfully!
I have a decent credit profile there, got a Virgin money card and my 10+ plus year current account.
Thanks, I'll check out that recommendation. thanks all!0 -
At least ten years ago an acquaintance moved from Italy to the UK
He had a decent credit rating in Italy, but found it *very* difficult to get any sort of account here.
Obviously, if you already have a Nationwide a/c you must be on a better footing, but don't burn all your bridges!!!0 -

I only point out Handelbanken as the person is new to the U.K., but as they do in house credit scoring and don’t rely on CRA, this may allow the OP quicker access to decent line of credit if this is what he is looking for.0

I honestly was after some ideas on maybe smaller banks, I know that may not be realistic, I am coming from Texas where there's literally one branch lol
I'm British so i maintained credit there, via my parents address so I think i'd be ok.
I just wanted a smaller feel to banking, we have a lot of goals and I would like to develop some form of relationship I suppose.
thanks all0 -
