Are REITs treated/charged as shares or funds on platforms?

Are the likes of LAND, BLND, SGRO, HMSO "real estate investment funds" purely from a profit allocation perspective similar to the US REIT structure or do platforms regard them as funds (and not shares) and charge custody fees?

In my experience, they are treated as shares. Whether you pay custody fees depends upon the charges set by the platform. The tax treatment of REITs is different to 'normal' shares so it is advantageous to put them in an ISA or a SIPP.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Also be aware that some "real estate funds" have bid/offer spreads, that OEIC funds don't.0
