If they want staff to take tests then there MUST be a mechanism where they are provided - it's entirely ridiculous of them to say they expect people to pay for their own. Clearly in the long term testing constantly isn't sustainable, but I do feel that in settings like healthcare, or where people have to have contact with someone categorised as extremely clinically vulnerable, they should be continuing for longer.🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

at the very least stock up a little while they are still free - not generally acceptable but for an actual NHS worker, totally OKI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Pfft - as someone who has to have regular testing before going anywhere NEAR my ECV father and vulnerable Mum, I'm flipping well stocking up while they're free! If anyone considers that to be unacceptable then I'll refer them to the fact that I've been paying taxes/NI since the age of 16 and with the mobile nature of retirement age, I'm unlikely to ever extract anything like the value of those by the time I pop my clogs!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡

We start pocket money for ours at 10 and link it to tidying their rooms. Initially they get £10 a month (to get them used to the concept) until they get to secondary and then it's £10 a week. That's been working well on the whole, my 4th child is about to start as he's 10 soon and is so looking forward to itThey don't really need anything, so it'll be purely spent on 'wants'.

dear EH - sorry if my glib reply touched was over simplistic. clearly if you have a need (NHS or ECV) you should do what you have to. but there are those who will take and take for anything that is free whether they need it or not and (a bit like the toilet paper brigade) possibly with a view to selling onI think I saw you in an ice cream parlour

Thanks Alchemilla and Suffolksue
She really does have a stinky attitude.... She's mellowed this week, some of it is PMT I think, no filter when it's that time. Rubbish though and she needs to get a handle on it

Yeah, we've got a bit of a stockpile. I tend to test before I do my 3 days but get given enough to test twice a week at the mo. My 3 teens only test once a week too, so they have a collection.
Pleasantly surprised today, most patients wore a mask when I asked nicely, no aggro.
Re lists, my colleague rang union and they were uninterested. Occy Health says we have to balance our personal needs with those of the service. Think that's a polite 'uninterested'. One of our trainees has been signed off with stress and is unlikely to return - not my fault, I haven't worked with her muchShe seemed really nice, I hope she comes back.

That's kind, thanks
It's just frustrating as if they kept lists more civilised, gave more breaks and paid us better they'd hold onto their staff. But instead, they work us hard and wonder why people leave... then they just lump the work onto those remaining. They then hire locums and pay them 2-3 times the wage!
