I'm guessing you've nailed it - it may well have come as a nasty shock to discover that any attempts to play Queen of the Castle in her workplace got put down VERY fast indeed! I really am so glad she's settling - I imagine that she is probably happier as well - it's clearly a given that YOU are! And of course having her own, earned money is undoubtedly meaning she's actually learning the value of it, too!
Absolutely not getting into "diet advice" here as I have zero qualifications to do so, but allowing for your nature of work, PLEASE think carefully before restricting carbs. Brains work best with carbs for fuel (nutritional known fact) and I'd question whether someone doing the type of work you do should be risking cutting back radically on that particular macronutrient. (I'd question whether anyone should, TBH, but that's a whole different matter!) I would say that your plan to tackle the booze side of things, and assume that the snacking will then sort itself out is by far the more sensible route. It will very likely improve your sleep for those nights too - something else with a proven health benefit!

Thanks Mark, SH and EH
I'm being a bit cheeky and giving myself the week off of dieting stuff as it's my Birthday... Honestly, my will power is poo! I won't pig out, but a nice plateau this week will be fine
Today was interesting, got into work to find TWO of my colleagues have covid and therefore their work was divided between the 3 of us remaining. Excellent. 10 hour day, zero breaks, moaning patients about the delays (despite a massive sign saying 'please be kind, our staff are covering 5 peoples' work between 3 of them').
Management refusing to cancel lists as would breach necessary waiting list times. Ugh. Same again tomorrow, can't wait!
I said to the receptionists (after the 3rd bollocking from a patient) that when they checked in they should let them know there'd be a delay and if they weren't happy, they could rebook. Noone rebooked and the moaning subsided somewhat.... when they did moan. I was 'oh, didn't the receptionist give you the option to rebook?'. Then they shut upI'm such a grumpy cow

PS today was supposed to be an alcohol free day... I poured a glass of wine as big as my head when I got home (an hour late!)
Will now have to do Tues-Thurs off... which is fine as my Birthday isn't until the weekendDFD March 2025 (£35000 paid off)

Some days just need alcohol at the end of them and well done for dealing so politely with the ungrateful. I've decided not to have any gin until Friday evening and maybe not then if I don't fancy it. It was getting to be a habit (and a coping strategy). I put a large bottle of diluted squash in the fridge this morning and I've had that instead. Good luck for tomorrow....4

Hope you have a better day today. I'd have gone for the large glass of wine last night too as I also have no will power at the end of a long, trying day 😬4

I don't think that's being grumpy at all OhSh...sounds like a totally sensible way of managing expectations to me! If people have been informed that there may be an unavoidable delay, and have chosen to stay put and wait, then they can hardly be considered reasonable in complaining when there is indeed an unavoidable delay!🎉 MORTGAGE FREE (First time!) 30/09/2016 🎉 And now we go again…New mortgage taken 01/09/23 🏡
