"Erroneous transfer"- compensation?

no there's not. i don't really understand why you want compensation. it just means that your transfer has been delayed a little bit.
it may not even be scottish powers fault, the problem may lie with an external database all the suppliers use. i think you should forget about compensation and just get transferred over as quickly as you can.0 -
This has happened to me many times - they just rearrange the transfer and ensure that the correct customers pay the correct suppliers the correct amount.
However, if you've had to make extra phonecalls to sort this out (and/or been left on hold), Scottish and Southen have a standard compensation amount of £20 to cover this cost.
I don't work for them, I just had a very long and interesting chat with a friendly and helpful girl on the phone this week!Mortgage | £145,000Unsecured Debt | [strike]£7,000[/strike] £0 Lodgers | |0 -

It's not for me - it's for my neighbour. Scottish Power transferred his supply instead of mine so he has had a little inconvenience, through no fault of his. He only discovered it when he tried to transfer his supply and was told he was no longer with British Gas.0 -
i suppose if your neighbours have a good case that they present to scottish power they may get a bit of compensation. I doubt it would be much though, simply for the fact that the mistake was not likely due to incompetence on Scottish Powers part. give it a try though, send an email to save on the phone call though.0

Most Suppliers use the £20 ex gratia as the cheap nway to get rid of complaints. Pushing more, you sometimes get £50.
This could have been caused by:
- your salesagent obtaining your neighbours MPAN
- your neighbours Supplier holding the wrong address in the MPAS database (they will be aware of it, so their fault, not SP if this is the case)
- you obtaining the wrong MPAN from MPAS, if there was an address problem with you & your neighbour (you may not have been aware of it)
- the addresses are somewhat vague (especially in London & Glasgow flats)
ET's are very common in this industry. It's hardly surprising though when ALL ditributors pulled the plug on the Suppliers main way (1 of the types that they can use) of updating addresses. There is no obligation on a Distributor to even use the Suppliers update thesedays - so something else to thank all those regulatory bodies out there that let this happen.
ET's are a common complaint to Energywatch. Now, maybe the ET resolution will go wrong so it will strengthen the compensation position.:rotfl: It's better to live 1 year as a tiger than a lifetime as a worm...but then, whoever heard of a wormskin rug!!!:rotfl:0
