Private GP - charged me when THEY ran over time

  • I don't think there is a lot you can do about it now. Now you get it, I would set an alarm on my watch/phone for 12 mins so you don't lose track of time and get caught out like this again.

Unless you walked in and said to the GP 'This appt must take no longer than 15 mins because that's all I am prepared to pay for' I don't think you'd be able to say they had any obligation to keep to a certain time. They would say (as has already been said) the appt lasted as long as it needed to to deal with the enquiry. At £360 an hour I hope it was gold framed advice lol.

You can do online paid for appts with a GP, that might be cheaper.

    Disagree slightly with above views

Medical appointments are normally schedulded by dividing the day into appointment slots and calculating the fee / slot.. To be honest some patients run long some short I personally wouldn't charge a different amount if the slot overran as I wouldn't expect someone I sorted out quickly to pay less!

The exception would be if the patient booked a double slot at the outset.

Normally over the course of a day the appointments balance out and I rarely overrun prehaps 10% of days.

Of course, there might well be history in this GP/patient relationship!
