DLA care

My sister is 81 and gets DLA mobility middle rate. She is now partially sighted and thinks she should now be entitled to the care component as well.I've tried the govt website but nothing on there can explain her situation. So I thought I'd try you knowledgeable people on here .Maybe someone knows a person who has either claimed extra D LA or PIP or Attendance Allowance. I think she will have to be careful or she could end up losing her mobility. Thanks in advance.

Have a good read of this:

    https://www.ageuk.org.uk/brandpartnerglobal/gloucestershirevpp/factsheets/disability_living_allowance_fcs.pdf

    which covers your questions.

It is very important that your sister seeks professional advice before reporting a change of circumstances.

She could try AgeUK or CAB.

There is no mob middle rate.

[STRIKE]It will be an application for PIP and she may lose the mobility award because the criteria are different. However if she was confident that she could qualify for standard rate care that would still be more than low rate mobility, if that’s what she currently gets. However nothing is certain so there is risk involved.[/STRIKE]

    Incorrect post - ignore.

It won't be PIP she is far to old to change to this, she can ONLY add in the middle or high rate care to her existing mobility part of DLA and must have had the extra care / supervision needs for 6 months.
