I currently have contents insurance with AXA and it runs out on the 23rd Dec.

I am also in process of buying a house - we have no date of exchange but hoping early January.

I will need home insurance aswell as contents when we exchange.

I dont know what to do? Can I renew my insurance and then have my contents insured at my current house until we move to new and have house insurance added when we exchange?

Will this cause admin fees?

That's what I did, but yes, it will very likely mean admin fees are paid, at least when you cancel the old insurance, although you might get away with adding the house insurance to the contents on the new one without any fees. The most likely way to get completely fee free is to take out all the cover at both properties with the same insurer, but you need to check the cost of cover at the new property with other insurers and compare it to any fees you might get charged before deciding on that options.
