Those who have followed the more than a dozen changes to the nuisance calls regulations over the last fifteen years or more will recognise that the latest changes represent yet another meanigless tweak to a failed regime.

With nuisance calls and texts now exceeding ten million per DAY, it is time to take a completely different approach to tackling the problem. The current arrangements have failed and have been seen to fail.

It won't stop them. It also won't stop the radio adverts.

Not good enough. Cold calling should be banned in its entirety.

As it's been said before, the ones cold calling tend to be those selling dodgy, unregulated "investments".

If the fear of reprisals from the FCA and possible repayments ordered by the FOS (should the culprits still be in business) do not concern the cold-callers, then the fear of enforcement action from the ICO isn't going to bother them either.

I fear this is just a "good-news" headline rather than any real headway into tackling pension scams.

Another sticking plaster, attempting to fix the symptoms, instead of addressing the underlying problems...

I regularly tell cold callers what despicable ba5tard scum they are. And that's when I'm being polite.

If everybody did that to cold callers then they would soon disappear but that's never going to happen unfortunately.

I wish these cold callers would have the courtesy to ensure they have a good line, don't have the rest of their call centre colleagues shouting in the background, and preferably have a clear grasp of the english language. All too often I cannot be sure they have really heard / understood exactly where I am requesting they shove their offer - before I put the phone down!
