need help regarding renting and roof repairs

hello all

moved to a rented flat in october, top floor, all was fine until it started getting colder and wetter outside thats when we noticed a big damp mould patch in the living room, turns out there is tiles missing on the roof so its getting wet inside...

next point: in the bathroom is a cupboard which is in the slope of the roof, you can see daylight through it and the cold breeze constantly comes through the huge gaps into the bathroom and through the flat.

went in the loft to put some stuff up there to find you could probably fly a kite up there on a windy enough day.

the real issue is.. its all electric heating no gas so were putting on £50+ a week on the electric because its always so cold here the heaters are constantly on fighting a loosing battle, we dont use other stuff to kill the electric we arent here for a good 60 hours of the week anyway and usually both sit in the same room with an oil filled radiator just to keep warm.

i have mentioned the hole in the roof in the living room thats causing damp issues and someone has been out to inspect it but heard nothing since.. what are the responsibilities of the estate agents and landlord to get this dealt with? my partner has a disability which isnt helped by the cold and we have both spent the best part of the last 3 weeks with a cold/flu

is there any way of me claiming anything back from them due to the crazy electric amounts we have been using and is there any way i can get them to actually fix the cold issues.

    No.

But you should be enforcing the repairs properly. See the sticky:

Since you moved in after April this year, the property should have a minimum EPC band of E. What's the score? (You must have been provided with the EPC...)

True. Though EPCs are so unreliable and misleading that wether it's an E or a C may make no difference...............
