My cheap deal Feb 18 shows unit at 15.43 p plus vat and daily standing charge of 15p.
So with prices haven risen you are not paying a excessive charge. at 18p

Your protection is that (for domestic supplies) you can not be charged more than has been paid for it. Without sight of the bills you can not be sure of that, but my current dual fuel deal will be about 17.1 p/kWh when VAT and standing charge are included. So you should not be alarmed at 18p. But if you are using electricity for heating and hot water it is an expensive source of energy.
  • Ok thanks, I just seem to be topping up a lot recently, I topped up a pound last night around 7.00pm, when I woke up this morning the credit had been used up, I will have to have a look and see if there is anything that could be using up the electric , thanks again

£1 overnight from early evening... looks reasonably OK.

Usage... I see from 7pm last night that I hit the microwave, fan oven and big TV over some hours, making nasty peaks in my usage graph. Peaking from time to time, central heating pump, fridge, security lights... and then a vast array of gadgets including (internet) cable modem, router and burglar alarm. Indeed the gadgets all add up to a minimum load of 190 watts overnight (say 40p at your rate).

Mind you, all this appears a mere nothing against some of my neighbours, who have Blackpool-rivalling festive decorations from roof to ground :D
