Car insurance - what would you do?

I’m changing car and I’ve got two options regarding car insurance. So with the company I’m with, if I cancel the existing insurance There’s a charge of £40, I have to pay £144.64 upfront if I change the car (with a £60 admin fee) and my last direct debit for my current insurance would come out on the 15th Jam for £64.90, bare in mind I’ve akso paid my DD this month for the same price (I pay monthly). As my insurance finished in April, I’m told I’ll pay nothing in Feb and March as the insurance company doesn’t charge customers in the last two months, of the policy. So that £274.44 from now until April, when my insurance will renew and I’m eligible for a 40% discount due to good driving (black box). But I’m not sure how much my car insurance will be after April. Or if I change completely I’ve found a quote for £1007 for a whole year (starting today when I change the car) so I’d pay that plus the £40 cancellation fee from the old insurance. What option should I choose? Either stay with my current company and pay £144.64+£64.90 until April and see how much I get for the discount after renewal and look st my options then or change completely and pay £1007 for the year, I’m not sure?

Your figures don't really make sense, but if we go with the last 3 lines, then £144+ £64.90 for 4 months is a lot cheaper than £1007 for 12, stay with them and shop around when you have a month to go.I want to go back to The Olden Days, when every single thing that I can think of was better.....

Sorry you feel it doesn’t make sense but those are the figures I was givenThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

Don't forget that if you change now, you will lose about 8 months No Claim Discount, and by April you may have clicked over an additional years driving experience.
On the face of it, I would pay to change with my existing company now and shop around in April.0
