British Gas Complaint

Hoping someone on here can help. Below are the details
I moved into my property on 29th of April 2018 - Landlady states energy is with Outfox the Market (OTM) and pays approx £50 a month for Gas & Elec
Due to holidays I didn't contact OTM until late June to set my account up and made some back dated payments.
24/07/18 - I receive notification my direct debit has been cancelled due to issues setting up my OTM account
Ongoing complaint for 5 weeks with OTM states new account will be set up from 01/10/2018 and I will be refunded for any back dated payments.
07/11/2018 - receive Electricity bill from British Gas for £354 for January 2018 - October 2018
Ring BG to complain and ask why they're sending me a bill when I've been with OTM since we moved in. They advise that they've been supplying the property with Electricity since January. Had it correct that we were only there from end of April. They're saying that OTM took over the supply in January but then there was an 'erroneous' transfer from OTM as they picked up the wrong supply number.
BG took the supply back over July 24th (when my DD was cancelled) until 01 October.
Now as I've never entered into any contract or tariff with BG surely I have no obligation to pay them? I've never wanted to be a customer of theirs.

Deemed contract with the existing supplier from date of you moving in is the rules.
You register with them and are then free to move.
