By the way, a couple of years ago I had advisories on MOT about "rubber bush deteriorated but not resulting in excessive movement". Then it never appeared on MOT again, could it indicate that MOT was not done properly?

"rubber bush deteriorated but not resulting in excessive movement" is subject to subjective opinion and you'll find MOT testers won't agree on it. Sometimes the surface just gets a bit dry but there's no movement so a tester will put an advisory as backside covering. It doesn't mean the MOT wasn't done properly.

To be honest this is a scenario where a 'free brake check" could be a good idea.

I am sure that they will find something wrong and the OP will be satisfied, but ££££ lighter :)

It means, to me, that they are trying to create work for themselves.

How? An advisory is simply that doesn't need to be addressed and the car still passes.

Other than noting it there's no extra work.

They are advising you that the work needs doing; many will have it done there and then, others may book it in later.
I had an 'advisory' last time, checked it out myself, it was perfectly ok.

Nearside Rear Wheel bearing slightly noisy
Offside Rear Tyre worn close to legal limit/worn on edge 3MM Remaining (5.2.3 (e))
    Front N/S/F & O/S/F Tyres Perishing
Rear Brake disc worn, pitted or scored, but not seriously weakened

I have done several journies to the coast and back, still no sign of wheel bearing needing doing. But then the MOT was £25

    Dear OP

Don't write the fast fits off as some have a decent staff. They checked my hubby's brakes many years ago when we had an older car, no cost took all tyres off, brush cleaned and checked and assured us all well, so worth a go.

does your car have discs or drums as may need grease on metal plates not sure what they car called but my sister had some noisy brakes and she told me that.
