Judging by the amount of stuff some people have in their trollies pre Xmas, thy won't need to shop for about 2 weeks!

Wheres a nurse or paramedic going to get their coffee or dinner from?

Asked my mate (who is a paramedic), she takes her own dinner if she is working Christmas day. Personal responsibility.

If shops are closed for one day (Christmas Day) then you need to develop a siege mentality and get enough food, especially bread and milk, for 3 weeks.

If you don't take this action then you would be in serious trouble if the shops failed to open again when they are supposed to.

Yeh she choose to be a paramedic and agreed a contract to work what was required which includes things like national holidays. Why do you think retail workers shouldnt have personal responsibility?

People can live without seeing family on boxing day. Can you not see the hypocrisy of what youre saying?

This from someone arguing for employment contracts to be as one-way as possible.

I'd like shops to close on Boxing Day to give their staff some family time. If you need something on Boxing day, you can either plan in advance and buy it on 24th, or wait another day and buy it on the 27th. Problem comes when some shops open and others don't: Customers will go buy from whoever's open. If all shops were closed, we'd all just wait.

I think it's reasonable for small convenience stores and pharmacies to open, though.

So you don't care about "family time" for the staff of those?

So are you starting a thread about closing pubs on Boxing Day?

These threads seem to happen every year and it is always shops as their staff need time off but to hell with everyone else who has to work.
