    The way I see it is just punch through the markets and keep going and accept volatility is part of it and it can't always be going up so grab the cheaper prices for the long haul when it comes up.

    I agree but don't let Economic hear us talking about this foolishness or we will be accused of being born yesterday :xmassmile

    These stocks and shares may increase in value and may yield dividends. That's a reason most here favour them over BTL.

    When I used street view to look at the house linked above, the first thing I noticed was that every house seemed to have an intruder alarm. Is that to be expected in the area?
  • Definately not. It is quite safe. There has been abit more of the typical dodgy gypseys asking do you need your windows cleaned while another sneaks around the back but never had any problems in my other property less than 1 mile from that area.

    I'm considering dipping my toe into btl. I have about 250k in pension and isas and another 200k in equity in my house. Just started researching btl. For me it's the long term passive income that attracts me so may use it as a small part of my retirement planning
