Definitely worth having a reasonable discussion with the developer before doing anything that might risk you not getting a property at all from the developer.

    Once again, totally irrelevant spam.

Why pay 300k to live like that when you can get it for 60k? If this takes off new build prices will plummet.

Your reasoning is flawed as always. If true everyone would live in mobile homes.
  • If you don't ask, you'll never get OP.

I was reading up on some posts about people buying new builds, and apparently just about every home can be sold with a decent discount - you never pay full price unless it's a very popular in-demand site.

The last plots to be sold obviously go for a higher discount due to them wanting rid so they can relocate the plot staff etc and open new sites.

You may not always get much of a cash discount, but they can offer things such as stamp duty, home upgrades, appliances, carpets etc.

So definitely do some research - google things like: new build house discounts, new build home haggling. Read up on everything and then go and get your discount!

    Why wouldn't you try?
Nothing has been finalised... Depending on the development and the agent you're dealing with it shouldn't be too difficult. We were looking at 2 different developments built by the same large company and found the difference in haggling was massive between them.

The kit house is closer to some new-builds though than a mobile home, and living in a mobile home has different legislation attached than just living in a house? My post was partly humorous, but I bet there are plenty of people now who regret paying top dollar for new builds a couple of years ago.
