OneSelect -> TogetherWhatever - What do we do?
Options
Hi All,
Just found an email, from today, saying that OneSelect has gone bust and that this 'new' company has put up prices from Friday 14th...and yet prices only communicated today!! Err...can this happen? The increase that is? Its a massive hike over the contract I had with them and not as cheap as current deals. They seem to be making out we cannot switch yet?!
Can I refuse the price increase whilst I switch? Like other, no doubt, I'm really hacked off. I knew absolutely nothing of this until today. My last bill went out fine and I even 'got' a bill from them on 1st Dec. I love the email...'as you might of heard.' If you don't contact me how am I supposed to know? Divining rod?
Any advice appreciated on whether I can stop the increase:) Funny how the staff are the same, the site's still up but prices are changing. I guess the DD increase didn't keep them afloat!
Merry Xmas one and all...

You already have an Ofgem led switch in progress from the failed supplier to the SoLR. The alternative to the SoLR process would be a 17 to 35 day delay (without any heat/lights) whilst the transfer to your chosen supplier goes through. The new contract is a Deemed Contract so you cannot reject it other than by switching supplier ASAP or transferring to another tariff with the SoLR.
There are ways of finding out when the databases have been updated with the SoLR as your nominated supplier. You are then free to switch. Trying to do it before the present switch has been actioned may result in a block. I am not saying that this process is 100% fair, but I think that those of use who choose small/low cost suppliers have to accept that there is a risk that they could go under. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. Many thanks all for your advice and I will read the other thread. Must admit, in my haste/flustering, I completely missed the wood for the trees!
Thanks again,
Dave:)0 -

No apology needed. The SoLR procedure was seen as something that would just sit on a shelf gathering dust: a bit like the BREXIT backstop:D With over 10% of suppliers failing so far this year, I have no doubt that Ofgem will be looking closely at whether the procedure is still fit for purpose. I suspect that they will have struggled to find suppliers willing to take on the failed suppliers’ customers at a good price. This is a system account and does not represent a real person.
