What happens if I called debt recovery plus can I still follow the guide?

I got a parking ticket and genuinely had no idea about it. I live in Brighton and I have never seen a pub car park that charges you to park.

A few months back in September I attended a funeral and visited pub after, I swear I did not see a sign anywhere indicating I had to pay a parking fee.

About 10 days ago I opened a letter from Debt Recovery Plus informing me I owe £145.

Now I have read through the Newbie FAQ and what I am not sure on is it categorically says not to contact them, however today I did call them.

Will the calls be recorded? I never directly said I was in the wrong but I did say if they send me the evidence and give me a chance to pay the original charge I would pay it if I was in the wrong.....

The women was foul. When I said £145 was too much considering this is the first I have heard of it she hung up on me telling me 'she's not negotiating with me, prepare for court'.....

I tried to speak but she full on hung up. She then called me back 1 minute later apologising saying it was an 'accident'....

I then said I didn't want to speak to her (she sounded like she was enjoying herself), so she advised me to call back if I wanted to speak to someone else.

The next person was just a normal human and not a sociopath so we discussed it and she emailed me the pics and explained they couldn't pass it back to Euro car parks and Euro car parks likely would not deal with it.

Have I said too much? Can I still follow the FAQ guide despite having offered to pay the initial fee?

ANy advice would be great sorry fi this is covered somewhere else, the letter says I have til tomorrow to respond or else they will recommend court action to their client.

Go and complain to the pub, get it cancelled
OR, it's the local press that the pub employs scammers ... beware

DRP are just money scamming sewer vermin TO IGNORE.
You do not speak to money scammers

Debt Collectors (DRP & ZZPS & Zenith)
What they don't want you to know

WHOOPS what a wally she is ..... they have no option but to pass it back to the PPC because you will not be paying DRP as they are powerless.

"and Euro car parks likely would not deal with it"
Nobody else will .... certainly not the powerless DRP

Are you sure about "not being a sociopath" ...... ????

It is the will of Parliament that these scammers be put out of business. Hopefully that will take place in the near future. The Bill has passed through the HOC without hitch, and goes to the Lords soon. In the meantime involve your MP, the poor dears are buckling under the weight of complaints about these scammers. Read this one which I wrote earlier

This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of alleged contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors. Is has been suggested by an MP that some of these companies may have connections to organised crime.

Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, (especially Smart}, and others have already been named and shamed in the House of Commons as have Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each week), hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned. They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct

The problem has become so widespread that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers.

Sir Greg Knight's Private Members Bill to curb the excesses, and perhaps close down, some of these companies passed its Third Reading in late November, and, with a fair wind, will become Law next year.

All three readings are available to watch on the internet, (some 6-7 hours), and published in Hansard. MPs have an extremely low opinion of the industry. Many are complaining that they are becoming overwhelmed by complaints from members of the public. Add to their burden, complain in the most robust terms about the scammers.
You never know how far you can go until you go too far.
