Trickle vents - in the winter?

For those who take the stance of
* trickle vents are the work of the devil so i never ever use mine. I've taped the bloody things up & i spend my weekends campaigning against them!
* i don't have trickle vents in my house
then this thread isn't for you
But for those who do have them and use them, i was wondering - do you also have them open in winter?
It's pretty cold (obviously) but while letting in some fresh air is good it's also like i just said ... pretty cold.
Just wondered whether others used theirs or not in winter.

Yes, they are more necessary in winter than in summer. How else will moisture be able to leave the building and not condenser on cold windows and walls? The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.0

Mine are permanently open since they're too high to reach without getting the ladder out. I typically only regret this when it's really windy and they're whistling like mad!0

In a previous flat with continuous air extraction in the bathroom, i always had one (of six) open in the living room, and one of two open in the bedroom. In very cold weather, they were closed over night. More open in warmer months.
Current flat has older draughty windows so the trickle vents are taped shut. I open windows on both sides for 15 minutes each morning around 5am to change the air fully.0 -
Mine stay open unless it's somewhere in the minuses when I tend to shut them at night and open them up again during the day.All shall be well, and all shall be well, and all manner of things shall be well.
Pedant alert - it's could have, not could of.0 -

I have closed my vents on the bedroom walls and sellotaped the vent in the living room chimney.
Its the first time that I have sellotaped the chimney vent, I only did it last week, the room was 2 degrees warmer.
If it causes a problem I can always just take it off.0 -
I don't have trickle vents but do leave my bedroom & bathroom windows locked on the latch - open about half an inch. The bathroom one always like that & I only close the bedroom ones if it's really freezing out. I'll open all the windows in the house fully once a week for about 20mins.
I've a humidity monitor in my bedroom. If it starts to show too humid I open up the bedroom windows on the latch again. But its a small house so just having the bathroom window permanently on the latch usually is fine with the doors open.0 -
I leave mine open unless it's bitterly cold and a howling gale.
I don't have problems with damp in the house, even when I need to dry laundry indoors. A bit of ventilation is a good thing. If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.0
