My husband had a business contract for his mobile which ends in January 2019. As the business is now closed, he has given notice and has received a PAC number which expires on 16 January.
He knows he has to make a final payment on 11 January before cancelling his Direct Debit mandate.
Does this mean he can now approach another supplier without incurring a penalty?

Yes, but does he need another business contract?0

            Don't cancel the DD
There are plenty of examples of folks on here having their credit file tarnished by cancelling the DD when the mobile provider drops a final bill for a few quid!0

No, he will need a personal contract as the business is closed and he is retired0

He can use the PAC now if he wishes, he'll still need to make the final payment. I presume you mean the minimum term will end in January as it should continue on a monthly rolling contract after then.0

He could start a new contract now with a different number, it'd save him dealing with work calls in his retirement.0

I think getting a new number may be the best option.
 Thanks for all replies.0

You won't need the PAC in that case but do contact them now to make sure the current contract is cancelled at the end of the minimum term, otherwise it will continue on a rolling monthly contract at least.0
