Hi, I know its a bit late in the year but can I join you all? Had a LBM a few days ago and have had a complete change of mindset re: spending so I guess that's a good start. Outstanding debt currently stands at 24,000 but is all in one place with a relatively low rate of interest (about 3.5%).
I've changed phone/broadband supplier and saved nearly £20 a month, have already reduced gas/elec by lecturing teenagers and banning baths (which should also have a positive knock-on regarding horrendous water rates). I sent back my car which was on PCP and bought a cheap run-around and am doing a car boot sale to get rid of a load of stuff this weekend. I've also signed up to a cash-back card which gives money back on my weekly shopping bill (only 2.5% but every little helps right?). Fortunately I'm in a position to do overtime too, so I'm planning to do at least 2 extra shifts a month which should be sustainable without killing me off.
Obviously I'm not going to shift the debt by Christmas but I'm going to set myself a tentative £2,000 target. I'm hoping that getting it all down on here and belonging to the group will keep me motivated when it all becomes a little less exciting!
Long term I'd like to clear the lot within 4 years...
