                    Hi,
So I was unaware of parking restrictions where I have been parking daily for 6 months. One of the girls I work with was the same but only just started. She received a PCN through the post for £60 on 17/12/18 dated 23/11/18.
I haven't yet received anything but having gone into panic mode as I have no money and aware they can come after me for the 6 months of PCN's I rang the company (British Parking Society) and without giving any of my information asked how far they can backdate and they said 7 months. I asked him to double check this as this sounded high.
I also spoke to a Lawyer that I know and they said "A PCN through the post should be sent within 28 days of the date of the alleged contravention."
Can someone please confirm this and help me out with a little knowledge and advice?
Just panicking - TIA

They can send an invoice when they like.
They have up to six months following an alleged incident to ask the DVLA for the Registered Keeper's details.
The Limitations Act allows them up to six years to chase an alleged debt throught the courts.0

I assume the vehicle is registered to your current address? If not you may have quite a collection of them you aren't aware of.Monkeynuts6 wrote: »I also spoke to a Lawyer that I know and they said "A PCN through the post should be sent within 28 days of the date of the alleged contravention."
Unfortunately your run of the mill Wills/Conveyancing/Divorce solicitor is unlikely to be particularly well informed about private parking matters.0

Why don't you contact DVLA and ask if your information has been provided to any PPC in the last 6 months.0

            Yes,
My details are up to date with the DVLA0
-
I did that and they said that third party companies now have access directly with the data base and the DVLA don't get involved0

Did the DVLA tell you that?
It really would help that when replying you could give some indication of which post you are responding to. The Quote button will help with that.0

Ahh so sorry - knew to all of this! Yes, I rang the DVLA earlier to find out if they send over details and they informed me that 3rd party companies have access to their data base now.0

You need to write to the DVLA and ask by whom and when your personal data relating to your VRN was accessed, from just before the first time the car was parked, until now.
This is what was suggested in post 4. You have given answers to different questions.
You should also edit your post to remove information about who parked. Only ever refer to The Driver and The Keeper, who are two different people.
Tell the "girl" you mentioned in the first post to come here and start her own thread after reading the sticky thread for NEWBIES.
From the dates you gave, The Keeper cannot be held liable. She needs to get here now before she does something daft like tell them who was driving.
The NEWBIES is where you should go yourself to learn all about this scam industry. The likes of CAB and your average high street solicitor won't have a clue.
The NEWBIES will also explain about the timescales for sending the NTK to The Keeper.
Don't rely on the ubiquitous "bloke down the pub" or friends, family, or colleagues for information. We live and breath this 24/7, and have been doing so for years, so forget everything you have been told so far and start from scratch.
All information in the NEWBIES is up to date.I married my cousin. I had to...I don't have a sister. All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0 All my screwdrivers are cordless."You're Safety Is My Primary Concern Dear" - Laks0

If you do get a PCN it will almost certainly be a scam claim for an alleged breach of contract. Read this and when/if you receive a PCN, complain to your MP
It is the will of Parliament that these scammers be put out of business. Hopefully that will take place in the near future. The Bill has passed through the HOC without hitch, and goes to the Lords soon. In the meantime involve your MP, the poor dears are buckling under the weight of complaints about these scammers. Read this one which I wrote earlier
This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for minor breaches of alleged contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors. Is has been suggested by an MP that some of these companies may have connections to organised crime.
Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, (especially Smart}, and others have already been named and shamed in the House of Commons as have Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each week), hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned. They lose most of them, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P. for unprofessional conduct
The problem has become so widespread that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers.
Sir Greg Knight's Private Members Bill to curb the excesses, and perhaps close down, some of these companies passed its Third Reading in late November, and, with a fair wind, will become Law next year.
All three readings are available to watch on the internet, (some 6-7 hours), and published in Hansard. MPs have an extremely low opinion of the industry. Many are complaining that they are becoming overwhelmed by complaints from members of the public. Add to their burden, complain in the most robust terms about the scammers.
.You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0
