Probably, whilst to you it looks like lots of credit cards with no balance, to them it looks like £x,000 potential debt you can use at any time compared to a salary of £x,000, if they provide more potential debt they gain little, and could lose more if you found a need to suddenly use all your credit card limits due to personal circumstances.0 -
I have a Cahoot webcard but I stopped using it for 2 reasons:
1. no cashback
2. the difficulty with refunds
Once the month's validity of the card number has expired, it is very difficult to get a refund for returned goods. Retailers are reluctant to credit a different card from the one used for the purchase. I have had to spend hours on the phone (cheap with 1899, but still boring) convincing retailers that this is not a scam. You only have to go through this a couple of times before going off the (otherwise) good concept.0 -
As a Mac user I had difficulty using the Cahoot webcard as I access the net on Safari or Foxfire - they advised me to use Internet Explorer but I've always been under the impression that it's not very secure. Any comments anyone please?0

I'd had problems using it on Internet Explorer as well, which is why I stopped using it in the end.0 -
Cahoot webcard is created in Macromedia Flash, so you need to have that installed and working properly for the Webcard to work.
Apart from the minor problems detailed in my earlier post, which were with the retailers not the software, it works fine. I find that it integrates better with IE than Firefox, as within IE you can drag the name, card number, etc from the Webcard to the boxes on the order form. This doesn't work in Firefox and you have to manually type them in.0 -
I have a Cahoot webcard which I used to make a purchase, first the limit I placed on the card was exceeded, and secondly the same card number was used again by the same retailer.
I complained to Cahoot who said:-
1) If you put a low limit (I set £5 ) the system will allow a higher payment through because they have a minimum of "about" £10
2) If a trader tries to collect a payment and Cahoot refuse it, the Trader can "force" it through on a second try (their phrase). This allows the card to be used a second (and presumably more) time.
My "one time" card was used once to collect a payment in excess of my limit, a second time to make a refund, and a third time to collect a further payment, ALL without my agreement.
Response from Cahoot? Nothing they can do about it!!!0 -

Didn't you agree to pay something in fact? What payment exactly you autorised?
Cancellation of any credit card, including this one, cannot stop authorised payments to be taken by a retailer. If the second payment ('third time') was collected without your authorisation you can dispute this transaction with Cahoot and get a refund. If you authorised the payment and the first collection was made by mistake and then refunded, then everything is absolutelly correct, possibly besides exceeding £5 limit that indeed is ridiculous for a credit card.0 -
I to spent three months getting Cahoot to "allow" me to put my funds into a credit/Savings acccount as they refused me and refused to say why. I won in the end by insisting they manually check me out instead of the automated system.0

chajun, do you mean a refusal when applying for the account, or a refusal to deposit funds after the account is successfully opened?0

sorry to "Grumbler" for not coming back sooner, but I lost the link to the thread. In reply to your question I authorised a purchase with a maximum spend of £5, you may think it to be low but that was what I wanted to set and there is nothing on the conditions of the Cahoot web card to say there is a lower limit. In fact I don't think there is an actual lower limit, the best I got was "about £10." don't they know?
As for getting a refund, they did not offer one, and the point is, the card should not have been able to be used again, or am I missing the point of a "one time" card?0
