Liongate Partners

Has anyone come across Liongate Partners? On their website they state that they are not authorised by the FCA.

They came to my attention via an unsolicited cold call. When I tried to ascertain were they got my data from they refused to provide the information. Not a positive indicator of the integrity of the business.

There was a Lionsgate Capital Management in the past and there is a chance that they are trying to trade on the back of their reputation. Looks like they were a decent Hedge Fund in their day.

Obviously I will not be doing business with them. Anyone else know anything about them. Should they be flagged to the FCA?

Just another unregulated introducer doing its unregulated thang.

You can report their cold-calling to the FCA and to Action Fraud but don't expect any action to be taken in the next decade or two.

At the top of both their web page & disclaimer agreement it says.

" LGP is not authorised by the UK's Financial Conduct Authority"

Have they read the dunstonh post?

Either an unsolicited cold call or not authorised by the FCA, are to me, always signals that tell me to stay away.

Oh dear, I may've been a victim of their scam. I have invested £5000.00 in what they sold off as cryto investment. I have recently got an email from them stating I need to pay another £1000.00 pounds to an exchange in Estonia to redeem my principle and obviously the market is rife with speculation on these type of investments. Have I been screwed?

Yes you have. Your £5,000 is gone. Change your phone number and email address as you are likely to be targeted by, and fall for, similar scams in the future.
If they hadn't stolen your money they would simply deduct the £1,000 from your principal and pay you the balance.
If / when somebody contacts you claiming they can get your £5,000 back, that is also a scam.

Reputable/regulated financial companies will never cold call you , so it is an immediate red flag.

Shall I be crying or just feel relieved it was only money? Am a single mom and on zero befits.

Sounds like classic advance fee fraud, even down to the fact that they start the email with "Dear Miss," implying they are not someone used to writing formal communications in business English.

The web domain liongatemanagement.com was registered via Google less than three weeks ago and simply directs to the site run by LGP Client Services Ltd, a 'one man band' company that promises to put you in touch with a network of partners for a broad range of opportunities despite not being FCA registered.

Though for balance, I should say that someone from the UK describing themselves as a 'single mom on zero benefits' who has lost all their savings to a fraudster, could easily be a troll hoping that online white knights will devote their afternoon to showering them with sympathy over their made-up scenario. So, one can't always judge a book by its cover.

Apologies, was busy sulking over money lost & couldn’t find time to thank you. But am grateful for your guidance. Why would they send me an email to ask for fee for redemption if I did not genuinely invest...? It’s not a made up scenario & you’re smart but you did not analyse the fact that I’ve pasted their email. I did not lose all of my savings- but a substantial amount. I’m still very grateful for your insights. Shockingly I work for banks, heck I’ve even consulted for money savingexperts.com😏😏 not learning much am I?

You seem to be putting the loss of £5K away quite easily if all you do is sulk over it.
