Protecting painted furniture.

Options
Hi.

I have a chest of drawers similar to this:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/PINE-FURNITURE-AYLESBURY-4-6-DRAWER-WELLINGTON-CHEST-NO-FLAT-PACKS/132253662535?hash=item1ecaeebd47:g:lJYAAOSwA3tXoTcO:rk:4:pf:0

Mine is black (painted by the manufacturer) and has a matt finish.

The only problem is that it picks up fingermarks very easily. What can I put over it to protect it? And give it a slight sheen? I don't want it to end up being too glossy.

Also, what's the best way to repair a few scuffs and chips that I have on it?

I am hoping to move the drawers into my living room and use it as a sideboard/tv stand. What other ideas do you have to give it a more modern look?

Thanks for all your help.
