    How does the Land Registry document shared ownership staircasing? Because it's the same situation, just different %ages.

    No SDLT was due on the original 1/6th - because it was inherited.
    SDLT on the "staircase" was due on the purchase of the other 5/6ths.

    Consideration was £200k you don't pay SDLT on gifts.

    Well no I didnt know that before. I know many people that look up rightmove / zoopla etc to see what price a house down their road went for. Now I know it's not reliable.

    An estate sale like this should not appear on the land registry figures, just as repossessions don't.

    Repossession transactions were always recorded by the Land Registry, but I don't know when they started featuring in LR statistics.
