Render/Pebbledash in winter

Unrelated to my other thread.

Can you pebbledash / render an outside wall in winter?
Should you wait for spring?
Do you just need dry weather, or is the temperature an issue too?
Will it be hard to find a plasterer to do it in winter?

Old pebbledash is blown in many areas.
Not sure whether to wait or not.
Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.

im haveing ours done after xmas , the builder assures me that he does not do it when the weather is icey or frost or rain, but also he delayed 6 weeks work last summer !, because it was to hot,
  • Get it done after Winter has passed. It might work out alright, but your taking a gamble with your money doing it in winter I think.

Frost is bad news for render & to be honest if I was a plasterer I wouldn't want to lark about doing the job in bad weather knowing I run the high risk of being asked back to fix it when it fails.

Next door to us is having his new extension rendered at the moment, but it is more of a risk at this time of the year. The first few nights are the most important, although recent tests have shown that the strength of OPC mortars and concrete can be affected for up to 28 days, although not by much after the first week. Lime can be up to 72 days.
Middle of summer in the heat isn't too good either.

in London we get warmer temps - so its ok - check the forecast and if around 7c plus for a couple of days, go ahead but look out for wind chill effect - best bet is check google for min and max temps for rendering.
