So, once again, it all seems to boil down to the one thing that makes shareholders and CEOs happy: money.

So this "merger" was really Innogy SE desperately trying to sell Npower to SSE, but SSE deciding they didn't want to buy it.
    If it sticks, force it.
If it breaks, well it wasn't working right anyway.

Not entirely true. Innogy would have held a minority share (c.35%) in the new company, with SSE shareholders holding the other 65% according to the Innogy website. The two parties just couldn’t agree revised terms.
  • Shame it wont go through......as it would have merged 2 cr4p companies in to one

What people seem to be missing is the big six may well still be the big 5 because eon are taking over innogy to become eon and innogy own npower so npower would essentially become eon. The papers seem to have forgotton the innogy deal I think!

So SSE thinks that Npower is a bad buy and pulled the plug and that's now water under the bridge. What remains is what will happen to Npower and its customers as a result of the planned merger failing? Questions! Questions!

Npower are making investments that would have been of benefit to sse so I don't think its a clear cut as people think. Theres a lot of uncertainly for both providers now that only time will tell. Will npower become its own entity to not become part of eon, will eon take on npower and in what form because with innogy comes npower. it certainly wont be a case of well lets carry on as we were im sure for either party.
