The truth of the matter is I'm not bothered if it costs me £200-£300, IF I loose, as long as it costs them considerately more. It's not the money, it's the principle, something they couldn't possibly comprehend, and I would be happy in the knowledge it cost them more .Do not give in to Private Parking firms. To my knowledge, I've never seen such added costs to any private parking SCC loss - and PPCs are using lawyers to represent them on many occasions. Do you recall any such case where a further £175 has been added under the above?
Where we have seen cost orders well in excess of ~£200 +/- have been in judgments in default (CEL cases where amounts ~£350 are not unknown). Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

How much, on average, does it cost for them to take people to court? Any idea?Do not give in to Private Parking firms. Fight them all the way!0

They have to pay £25 filing fee, a further £25 hearing fee if it proceeds that far. Many have a gun-for-hire legal advocate to represent them. There's no information on what they charge - and if they are doing bulk business via BWL or Gladstones, then I suspect they get some discount (may be £100 a case - but I might be wildly off the mark, maybe WelshGoblin who knows more about this stuff can give us a more reliable estimate?).
BWL or G's will charge them a fee too - level unknown, unless WG can advise?
There will obviously be some staff costs in a bit of preparation. If they win, the Defendant will pick up the 2x£25 and a capped £50 towards solicitor preparation costs. If they lose, the Claimant picks up their costs and probably £95 capped loss of half a day's earnings/loss of leave for the Defendant and a bit of travel @ 45p per mile and a few quid for parking.
