I think I would try getting a very thin lever under the plug top and try lifting it while also turning the dial.
The comments I post are my personal opinion. While I try to check everything is correct before posting, I can and do make mistakes, so always try to check official information sources before relying on my posts.

dont use caustic soda, as it is only good fir blockages, and will eat your finger and hands, plus you do nor want to spash that stuff
  • What sort of plug? Could you grasp it with pliers? Or is it the click-clack type that you just push?
No longer a spouse, or trailing, but MSE won't allow me to change my username...
  • Undo the trap & push up the plug from underneath
I'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.

You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.

When mine does that I push down hard and turn it. Usually it will pop up once it has tightened however it will also unscrew if turned the other way and then can be removed
  • All sorted! Suction cup from poundland hook! Thanks all!
