Irish ferries - best time to book discount on cost? Advise please

Going to Ireland last week in August 2019. Cottage is booked now need to sort out ferry, have to say the cost of ferry has surprised me as will end up costing me twice the price of the cottage!

Going 24 th August for a week. Ideally Pembroke to rosslare. 4 adults.
Back 31st.
At moment looking at short of 300 each way!
Any deals or discount codes?
Daughter has blue badge as does one of the other travellers.

Thanks in advance for help.

    Do you need Irish Ferries?
Have you looked at Stena Line? - don't know it they come any cheaper but they do have regular discounts- 25% on Black Friday w/e for example.

I don't think Blue badge will get you extra discount.

Tesco points are worth x3 for ferry crossings

Choose you sailing wisely- ie most anti-social time - middle of night will be the cheapest, also Tues & Weds. In other words you might be able to get a cheaper crossing not travelling on Sat (or Sun) & do a B&B with the saving. Just a thought (Ha, I see there are only 2 sailings a day so that was not helpful advice.)

By all means, wait and see what the next Irish Ferries offer is, they are introducing a new ship, the WB Yeats early next year and will probably offer deals on all routes for publicity purposes, but your dates coincide with the UK Bank Holiday so demand is likely to be high anyway and that usually means the dates are excluded from the discounts!

Irish Ferries launched their latest sale today, 25% off all bookings online until January 5th. Not surprisingly, Stena started their sale a few hours earlier
  • Thank you! Have booked with Irish and used their 25% off and saved quite a bit so a happy bunny. Irish was cheaper than Stena as looked at both and stena fid not gave the discount on what crossing we wanted. Going from Pembroke as easier. Can't wait now. Thanks for you help.
  • Not that you'll have a problem in August but Irish Ferries tend to be cancelled less in rough weather on that route because it's a larger ship than the Stena.
Also, head up to the motorists lounge if you want a quieter crossing as it attracts less kids who are at the back in the play area.

Not sure if it's still the case but we used to book Stena Line and we could book on the .ie site in euros and it worked out quite a bit cheaper than in pounds.
We also could book a rail and sail ticket where you get the train journey as part of the deal but you didn't have to use the train ticket and it would work out cheaper overall.
