Someone trying to 'recover' my Google account

Options
I thankfully have 2 step verification set up on my Google accounts. I have an account i use for forums etc - general stuff, and then a more official one i use for things like banking and payments and it's that one that they've literally just tried 4 times within 20 minutes.

Port Elizabeth, St Vincent & the Grenadines was the location, apparently. Using an Android device.

I got a notification to my phone each time asking if it was me trying to recover my account, so each time i clicked no only to get it again a few minutes later, each time Google said they'd block the attempt.

Anyone else had this? Do you generally just leave it at that as Google did its job or do you change your security anyway?

Change your password to something complex right now as this is good practice.

    ATB :)

Thing is, it IS something complex.

I went here, https://www.lastpass.com/password-generator, selected more characters than the default, took out the symbols & created a password that way.

As well as changing your Google password - include what's called special characters and lots of them in your new password - keep an eye on your phone number in case the scammers try and port the number.

Also seriuosly consider changing your bank password(s) and any other password(s) of any service you use which uses the particular Google account, and if possible also change your username details.

Would also suggest doing it all on a computer which you know has not been compromised.

    Come again?

Could it simply be someone with a similar gmail username to yours mistyping?
I suppose it's not beyond the realms of possibility, though i seriously doubt it.

    Indeed.

Whilst it is wise to be very careful that is by far the most likely explanation.
