Anyone with experience of repeat claim for subsidence?

About 12 years ago after another particularly hot summer my terrace house showed signs of mild subsidence. Insurers investigated, diagnosed it was due to roots from tree in street outside, had tree pruned and put Council on notice that they would be liable for future damage if tree not regularly maintained. Patch repairs were done, no underpinning. Insurance premium and excess have inevitably been jacked up since.
Fast forward to record breaking summer this year. Exact same cracks have reappeared. Council has been pruning the trees regularly but they were probably exceptionally thirsty.
Is it worth making another claim?
If it turned out to be due to shrubs/trees in my garden would the cost of removal be covered by the insurer?
It's also complicated by the fact that I am a leaseholder and the freeholder would have to put in the claim. If the freeholder refused, am I right in thinking the freeholder would still be liable to remedy the damage including redecoration as the insurance company did last time?
