Ink on carpet, can I claim???

This morning my partner put a pair of his socks on and went downstairs into the kitchen. He then realised that there were stains all over the floor, it turned out there was ink on his socks????!!!
So there was ink all over the wood flooring downstairs, the hallway, landing and our bedroom. Our carpet is pure wool and I have had trouble cleaning it before and was advised only to use lighter fuel (this never worked last time). I have tried wiping with baby wipes which has got a few of the little ones up but most of them are still there.
Could I claim for this on our House Insurance??? If so what would the procedure be as we have never claimed before?
Thanks in advance
p.s the carpets are only a year old

Do you have cover for accidental damage?Gone ... or have I?0

Yes we do have AD on our cover0

You should be fine then, it covers most situations.
I am just thinking about claiming for the Dooleys that appears to have bleached my carpet (it is lighter than it was before, quite worrying what it has done to my tummy!), so let me know how you get on! xGone ... or have I?0 -
Will do, tried ringing but lines dont open until nine !0

I rang insurance Norwich Union through the AA.... basically they will send someone to look @ it, see if they can clean it and if not will replace. They will charge me my excess of £50 to come look, so I am going to see if I can find something to clean it and if that fails will have to go through the insurance. I dont really want to be charged £50 for them to come and clean and then lose my NC on my home insurance. One thing they did say was that my oak flooring downstairs (which I have managed to get out) would be covered under building????0

Similar thing happened to friend of mine.
Ink on new carpet in new house, in 3 different rooms.
Assessor turned up and said that all the carpets would be replaced, no question of them being cleaned at all. Seemed odd to me but it was all done.
Stained carpets were less than one month oldWe all evolve - get on with it0 -
The operator said it was likely it would come out because it was wool but knowing our luck of late they will come and get it straight up, just dont know what to do.0

sarmia - in terms of your floors being part of the building insurance the best way to think about it is, if you turned your house upside down anything that fell out would be contents, anytihng still fixed in position (floors, walls etc) would be buildings.
Good Luck with the cleaning
