Howdy !

Thought I'd just have a moan about my experiences with skipton over the short time I've been with them .
Since I joined in the summer to make a savings account with them , I've had phone calls regarding funeral plans and life inurance.
They know I'm single male , homeowner so no need for anything like that . Anyway , onto my main rant :

I am in a 30 day notice account . I went into branch and asked to withdraw a sum in December . Fair enough . I brought my passport in, as I expected to be asked for I d . The lady said it wasn't necessary
I was a bit puzzled . I proceeded to fill in the form for the funds to go into my bank for dec 28th .
Yesterday I got a call on mobile , which I ignored . I then received an email to contact them . Basically they want me to go into the branch with some I d . I did explain that I volunteered this already . The lady was back pedalling . Apparently my signature looked different to the original form I signed upon joining skipton . Head office want to make doubly sure. Fair enough, but all of this could have been avoided if they did the basic security first . I will go in next week and bring my passport with me . Anyhow , rant over . Thanks for reading :)

  • You could also argue the point that since they called you on the same phone number you gave them when opening the account, that would have been sufficient verification that it's a genuine transaction. Or perhaps not - this is banks we're talking about with their own ways of doing things  Keep smiling!!
  • Thanks Lindabea :)

Customer service by numbers is so infuriating . Part and parcel of life unfortunately . There are worse things I guess ;)

What interest rate is your 30 day notice account earning? I did look at their web site but it doesn't seem to be an account that's currently on offer. However, I couldn't find any other accounts whose rate was even mildly attractive, so I wondered why you bothered having an account there.

It's woefully pitiful . I just put it int for a few months initially , as I used to have a mortgage with them . I came out of a dmp last year ,and wanted something not attached to either of those creditors in any way . I'll probably shift to somewhere else next year . Thanks:)

You're planning to become inured to living forever in the property - or will it be sealed up as your tomb?
