Smart Parking Reg Number Incomplete

Some advice please.

My severely disabled daughter (uses an electric wheelchair) and her carer used a car park in Exeter in a Smart Parking car park, but the carer only entered the last 3 letters of the car reg. This is most probably because in our local council car parks you only need the last three letters.

I still have the ticket and photographic evidence that we paid and parked, so I appealed on their behalf. The appeal was rejected yesterday on the grounds that we did not enter the full reg and they are upholding the PCN!!

Any advice as to how to proceed would be appreciated.

At this stage, ignore anything further from Smart or their debt collector. Come back if you get a highly unlikely Letter Before Claim (from Smart or solicitors acting for them) or real court papers.

Have you complained to the retail park. Your daughter's carer would have had enough on their hands getting her in and out of the vehicle to be studying Smart small print. The Equality Act 2010 should give your daughter protection via reasonable adjustments. Read it up, then threaten the retail park managing agents with court proceedings should they not get Smart Parking off your backs.
