Carry Out Remedial Work

Provisional sum £76.00
Carry out preparation work on dado rail to enable Varnish (needs the corners sanded where filler is) application (by me) to be carried out.
Provisional sum £57.00
Front entrance: Inner and outer door facings to be reinstated.
Provisional sum £76.00
Hall and stair area: Dado rail to be fitted onto cladding (the biggest bit is already up on the stairs).
Provisional sum £190.00
Mosaic border (tile) to be fitted above the dado rail on stairs.
Provisional sum £114.00
Hall and stair area: Dado rail to be fitted above the mosaic tile border.
Provisional sum £190.00
Upstairs: 4 doors to be hung.
Provisional sum £190.00
Bathroom: Door frame to be taken down to bare wood. (i.e. stripped not replaced).
Provisional sum £114.00
Bedroom 1: Door facing to be fitted (it’s already cut).
Provisional sum £76.00
Bedroom 2: Door facings to be fitted on 2 doors. (I've not cut these ones, yet!)
Provisional sum £114.00
Electric socket to be raised (1.5cm and I know there is enough cable there so no replacement required).
Provisional sum
Total £1540.00
I’d be interested in your comments on this quote. I stay in Dundee, and think the guy is taking the proverbial especially as he is not supplying any of the materials and it’s purely for labour. I’m more than capable of doing the work (well maybe not the angles for the tiling on the slope of the stairs), but just don’t have the time right now with studying. He has also missed out three things I also asked about.
Thanks in advance.

- putting on new door facings where the radiator valve gets in the way (kitchen door)
- Putting on new door facings where the radiator valve gets in the way (bathroom door).
- Removal of the central heating thermostat as its right in front of the hot water pipes and it causes the heating to cut out early as it detects the heat from the pips rather than the room. Stupid council and their handy work.
Thanks in advance.

Looks like 3 or 4 days work, that's a lot of wages then, especially for scotland. If you paid someone £150 a day it would be max £600, and that's a good rate.0

Thanks for getting back to me. I thought it would take less than a week to do and he was ripping me off and probably many others.
He was doing work for a pensioner friend at the time and she has got rid of him after telling her runs in his paintwork were actually knots in the wood. (She is not stupid or dottery in any way shape or form).
Would love to hear other opinions on this quote as a few folks have read it but only one comment.
Any more ?0 -
Blimey, If by door facings you mean architrave thats only about 2 days work including the other items you mention, I'll come up from Northampton to do that for £1500 if that gives you a clue to whether its overpriced! Perhaps I should pack in gaswork!!Mine needed a new fan so that must be whats wrong with yours:D0

Anywhere around Glasgow, the minimum is £200 per day for a tradesman, (if your lucky)
Recent work carried out for us, plasterer £880, materials £40, labour 3 days £840, not far off £300 A DAY.0
