Go on, give us a bit more of a hint...

What mileage? Major service, minor service? What's being done? Brake fluid? Cambelt? Time being taken, hourly rate, parts included?

Could be anywhere between "absolute extortion" and "absolute bargain".

Please tell me where you can get a main dealer Jag service for £190.

I paid more than that over 10 years ago.

That's probably about right for the hourly rate, inc vat, at a central London Jag dealer.

I can easily imagine that a main dealer would charge that.
  • Seems alright to me. What did you expect it to cost?

Volvo are £270 inc VAT for first service on a V40 T2 so £190 if it includes VAT is a bargain.

So main dealer, I presume. Where in the country?

    The recall would be free.
How much labour have you been invoiced, or is it a flat-rate service?
  • I seem to recall my Kia Rio main service was £270 at the Kia stealers, that's a 1.1 litre engine, so not anything very exotic.

To be fair the service interval is every 20k so I suppose they need to make up for that somehow!

My friendly back street mechanic did it for half that price.

Its been booked in for next week. No idea how they break that down, it was just the price they gave me. I was expecting £100, maybe £150 max. Im in Manchester and at one of our local garages.

I thought it was a little bit steep, but seems like it is about right.
