Morning it’s so cold here this morning. Going to work soon I am going in early so taking my lunch it’s going to be a long day. Also after school too. Dd is much better which is good. After work I might go and get the shopping means I don’t have to go Saturday.0

Speky, my friend's daughter-in-law is like that. She finally allowed them to babysit after 2 years but left them with a long list of don'ts (take the child on stairs, put her to bed etc). She too knows she's doing it but can't help it.
I need to make a list this morning, we've got friends coming on Sunday so I am making a buffet. I don't want t go too over the top though. I think today is going to be one of those days when I think it's Saturday all day.0 -
Good Morning, Oldstylers  - rather chilly out there this morning (4C) but the promise of sunshine for most of the day
.
nmlc - thanks for starting todays thread. WD you on catching up with all your Christmas preparations. Lists are really good - at least you can see your progress as you cross things off it :T.
TA - it must be lovely to see all these 'budding theatricals' around your home at this time of year. Enjoy your 'Friday Tidy'
.
Nelski - 5am sounds like a 'lie-in' for you. Hope your business lunch with the ex-customer leads to more work for you in New Year :j. Enjoy your evening with friends.
Organza Lace - Oh dear! Thinking about your Christmas Day would make me want to lock myself in the bedroom with a bottle of something alcofrolic and large box of choccies - and just let them get on with it. Just let them know that if they all kill each other, then the last man standing does the cleaning up! In the meantime, enjoy Twilight on Netflix
.
tru - enjoy your walk and hope it helps to warm you up. Sounds like a good plan for the afternoon.
bellabella - I'm a bit like your DMum in that I can't use anybody else's veg peeler. Mine is a small - but very sharp - paring knife .......................... I even take it on holiday with me when we go to stay in a caravan.
redruby - enjoy your trip to The Range and John Lewis.
LaineyT - enjoy your riding session with Lu :j.
csarina - thanks for the useful reminder concerning Wills :T. Enjoy your afternoon lunch group.
Hester - what a hardfaced tenant - you'll be 'well rid' when you see the back of her! Hope the weekend viewings are more positive for you and OH.
ScarlettRibbons - oh dear the gremlins have been eating your posts - often happens to me.
Speky - hope you manage to 'fend off the symptoms' for long enough to enjoy your date - can just imagine you going out this evening smelling of 'Eau de Olbas Oil' instead of a sexy eau de toilette :rotfl:. Maybe it would be 'for the best' if your mate, his fiancee and baby didn't turn up this weekend.
Bozwood - sounds like a busy day ahead for you - enjoy!
snoozer - enjoy your weekend prepping.
Prayers and ((((Healing Hugs)))) for all who are feeling unwell - especially Holly, Poppy, taff.
Had a great day, yesterday - the Church Panto was delightful and the chance to chat with everybody aftewards. Caitlin (DGD2) loved it. The lady who helps run our church had an 'Evalutation Form' from the Theatre Group to find out if the children had 'got the message' from the story - Caitlin was absolutely spot on ...................... so they obviously fulfilled their aim.
I've already got the SC going with 'Scouse' bubbling away nicely - the smell is delicious . Perfect meal for tonight - will need to get some crusty bread to go with it for OH. I've yet to find anywhere that can provice 'Proper Crusty Bread' that's also Gluten Free.
Plans for today include a visit from my hairdresser at 10.30 to give me a good trim. Then I'm meeting up with my cousin for lunch. She's just had her DNA done (via Ancestry) so looking forward to checking out her results with her. I'm going to get mine done in the New Year, so it'll be interesting to compare our results.
I'll pop back in again later to see how everybody's day has gone. In the meantime, keep warm - luv Ollie xx0 -
Morning all, a beautiful, bright day here but really cold - I suppose that's the price we pay for clear skies, but I'd far rather be cold and dry rather than damp.
Been up since 4 but I was asleep soon after 11 so that's a reasonable night for me. Currently tackling yet another mountain of washing, not much ironing to do though.
OH cooked last night, chicken curry, and I'm making southern fried chicken tonight.
Don't feel much like doing housework but I do need to do the bathroom, not a big blitz as I did that earlier in the week. I think I might have been avoiding writing cards but those are all done and posted now.
Speky, hope you feel better soon. Poppy, pneumonia can't be much fun and it may explain why you have been feeling so unwell, quite apart from your other health issues.
Hester, we have netflix but ours doesn't work without the Internet. I think you could download things while you have the net on and watch them later, I think you don't pay to download. One interesting thing is that we gave one account with 3 users and netflix makes different suggestions for each of us, based on viewing preferences. I don't think OH bothers with it much though, . I have watched it more in recent weeks to occupy my head a bit while knitting. Some good documentaries and nature programmes as well as films. Though a lot on there is stuff I'd never watch and some of their groupings are very odd.
ETA I mostly watch on my tablet, not on the TV set and this probably has a bearing on the need for Internet access.
Wishing everyone the best day possible.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning all,
Very cold and crisp, much scraping of windscreens earlier. Am guilty of non posting again.I've had various outings etc,and DGS nativity which was adorable, combined nursery and reception. He was one of the 3 kings and his crown kept slipping down his forehead :rotfl:
I'm just sat at the table watching a robin eating some of the food I put out earlier, need to get some more.
I had a nice walk with Ly1a across the park, longer than usual but I'm not going out today ( waiting for parcels) apart from picking DGS up from school.DGD is at a panto tonight so it'll be later when she gets dropped off.
I had my Morries delivery yesterday,I seem to have ordered 2 joints of beef for Sunday, thought it was dearer than normal! but I have been getting extra bits. I've managed to stuff one in the freezer.
Tru ,thank you for the songs.DS pays for Net flix and I pay for prime. When DH was out last night I watched the Christmas Chronicles and really enjoyed it
Poppy sorry to hear about the pneumonia
Speky- hope you soon feel better, especially if you go on your date.
Warm wishes to anyone feeling poorly or down.
Have a good day xx:heartsmil 'A woman is like a teabag: You never know her strength until you drop her in hot water'. (Eleanor Roosevelt)0 -
Afternoon all. Had a lovely dinner at mums last night
Tonight’s dinner is stuffed sausages, roasties and veg.
Hopefully get the Christmas tree up tonight. All my gifts are bought just have to wrap them. I don’t send Christmas cards, I lost my dear dad to pancreatic cancer 2 years ago so I make a donation to them instead.
Hope everyone has a good day.0 -
Hi everyone, I had to leave extra time this morning to scrape the car prior to going to sewing group. Three of us took something to share, and a few more rows of the cot blanket got knitted. No one minds that I'm not sewing, however once the blanket's done I have a 40 year old rag doll to renovate so the needle and thread will be out then.
I'm almost certainly going to have a snooze this afternoon, as I've been awake since 3.40am. I didn't feel too sleepy until I had lunch. Luckily there's nothing planned for this afternoon and I need to be bright eyed and bushy tailed for a Christmas cabaret this evening. It wouldn't do to nod off during the performance! I'd never live it down. So 40 winks will save my blushes later on!
Crikey, I wouldn't like to be in a nine mile tailback, that must have added a lot of time to your outing bellabella.
Speky sorry you look to be getting a dose of virus, if need be do cancel things and rest up. No one will thank you for risking spreading it around, either.
Tru, thanks for the carol.
Mother and babe are now homeSo thrilled for them!
Hugs for Poppy, taff and all poorlies, carers, insomniacs and keepers of truces and seasonal quartermasters. Christmas is lovely but creates its own stresses especially when life isn't conforming to a template of happiness and joy, for whatever reason. It can truly be a mixed bag, so I'm sure I'm not alone in appreciating the need for a festival of light to punctuate the darkness, while longing for it all to be over. I don't do too well in the very darkest weeks at the turn of the year, I want to hide away and hibernate! My spirits lift in February as the days noticeably lengthen again.
Only a few weeks to go! xxx0 -
Why M & S?! Why?! I ordered 3 hampers from them on Monday and chose today for delivery as I knew I would be in. DHL man arrived with 2 boxes. I said there should be 3. Man said no I only have 2 you had better ring up and get them to check. Hung on for ages and couldn't get through to the man I spoke to that I only got 2 of the 3 parcels I was expecting. He eventually checked again and said no only 2 boxes from M & S recorded for your address. Cue another phone call, this time to M & S, only to be interrupted by a knock at the door - a DPD delivery man with one box!! Why the need for 2 different delivery companies for 3 items all ordered at the same time!!!! Grr!
I don't think it's got above freezing all day and to cheer me up even more the weatherman said there's a chance of snow for us tomorrow. Oh I hate winter I really do.
Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Evening all.
It's official, I'm pooped! Been on the go since early doors in Glasgow, haircut came first. Now I feel less unkempt if chilly round the ears.
Then swooped to collect DM and deposit her at the optician and left her there as the door was being locked. It's an independent business and the optician had to use an upstairs room. I managed to wander up and down Byres Road, visited two banks, one coffee shop and the book shop.
I anticipated taking DM home and then zooming off to do the shopping. Didn't happen - she wanted to come and sit and wait for me- she lied! She took the trolley and wandered off doing her usual 'inspect every item in the bleeding supermarket' act. The shopping list which she pored over last night was abandoned!
Now I'm back in my own home. There's both a yellow and amber weather warning out for us tomorrow so I didn't want to be stuck anywhere. Have to admit that it feels slightly odd to be here on a Friday, first time in about 18 months I think.
It's feet up time, glass of wine and hot food coming up.
Night all!0
