Parking eye charge

I parked outside my work for a works meeting, the priory was closed and I was in the loading bay where I had many times parked before along with other colleagues, I had just come off my mat leave so had no idea they had installed a new parking eye the security used to sort things out for us but after receiving a letter charging me for 2 hours parked at back of my shop I was told they couldn’t do anything about it! So I emailed the people who sent the letter but they never got back to me and a few weeks later got another letter charging me more! I got so angry and after reading all the threads on here telling us to ignore it that they can’t do anything i have now received a letter from Gladstone solicitors and iv read and it says they can take me to court and I’d be no good in course against someone that knows all ins and outs! Please help I don’t know what to do

    1. Calm down and don't panic
    2. Read the NEWBIE thread (main page of the parking forum third post down) for help and guidance
    3. Send the Blue Template appeal to the PPC
    4. Who is the PPC?
    5. Acronyms are explained in post #5 of the NEWBIE thread

i have now received a letter from Gladstone solicitors
Well this isn't ParkingEye that you're dealing with. ParkingEye is a private parking company, not the system of monitoring parking.

Which parking company are Gladstones representing?

To whom does the G's letter tell you to pay?
Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .

I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

  • It says Horizon Parking Ltd

‘The Supreme Court case of Bravia v Parking Eye [2015] recently confirmed the lawfulness of Charges based in contract and their recoverability In civil law. Prior to this case being decided there had been a common misconception that such charges were unrecoverable. The law is now clear.’

Then it’s gives me an option to call and sort out a payment

I don’t see how I can get charged when I wasn’t in a bay I was their 2 hours behind my shop and the priory was closed

OP, have you based your forum username on your real name?

Then your really should ask MSE to change your username to something totally anonymous.

To help with that, you might like to read this short extract from The MSE Forum Guide - Frequently Asked Questions & Rules:
    Q. How can I change my username?

    A.
In most circumstances, this is not permitted.

The only reason we will change your username is if it puts your privacy at risk. This usually means you've inadvertently registered using your name, email address or something that gives away your identity within your username.

If you fall into this category, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com and request that it is changed, giving three alternative usernames in order of preference.
