Of course it will, unless you buy miniatures. The 100ml liquid rule has been in place for over 12 years now, it's a mystery to me how people still don't understand it. Although this article does suggest that the restrictions could be lifted at some airports at some undetermined future time.

    Interesting.

Although it sounds like the initial plan is for the scanners to remove the need to take your 'liquids' bag out of your hand luggage rather than remove the 100ml rule altogether.
There is no word on whether the introduction of new scanners would lead to a change in the restrictions on liquids, though in theory if the technology can alert staff to threats in 100ml of liquids, it could do so in any volume.

I know this is a stupid question but given the restrictions on the amounts of liquid you can take in carry on, are you saying you'd run the risk of the bottle now breaking in your suitcase?

I always pack my drinks in my suitcase rather than in carry on. Two easy ways to do it without the risk of breakage is but in the plastic bottles many spirits are sold in or if it is a glass bottle I take a roll of bubble wrap and tape then package the bottle/bottles before they go into the case and in over 20 years I have never had a problem:)
