You have to take it seriously, but I wouldn't worry excessively about the cost of children. They're not that expensive if you're sensible and if you are on a low wage the government gives you more than enough to take care of them.0

sorry i hope that wasn't aimed at myself trying to escape my personal responsibilities. I agree with you there are people out there who basically EXPECT the state to provide.
Someone wise once said to me (not in any relation to the welfare state) "i can work with you, but i can't do the work for you". The logic kind of applies here "we (the state) can assist you in raising your children, however we cannot raise them for you".
