Refund to closed credit card account

Hello all,

A well known furniture company has to refund us a deposit for some faulty items. They say they will do this by refunding the credit card we paid with but we closed that account two years ago and no longer have any details for it.
Can any one tell me if they can still do this despite the account being closed for two years or will they have to refund us some other way?
Thanks in advance

  • It depends on whether your card account still exists. If it does, then the refund can go through and you can ask the card provider to send it to you.

If not, they will need to use another method.
  • If I were you, I'd do my level best to get them to refund you by some other means - regardless of whether that is the correct course of action or not. If they won't, I'd advise you to speak with your former card issuer and let them know what might be about to happen. They may be able to put something in place to make things work smoothly, or they might even reassure you that it is no problem and will work perfectly.
