Is Apple Pay more secure?
Yes, basically. With Apple Pay the retailer does not see your card PAN and also there is no magstripe to clone.0 -
Thing is I actually paid 5.50 in a Chicken Shop Tuesday am. This is not the same shop, but is about 1 mile away. I'm thinking when I paid they've taken my card details. Can't be a coincendence this place that has had my money today is also a chicken shop a mile away.0

Hmmm. Any chance that your memory could be a little clouded, given you were visiting a chicken shop in the morning?0 -

Haha unfortunately not, as Starling gives you notifications on your phone second you spent anything, so when I was sat in my house at 6.08pm and there's a transaction in Manchester 80 mile away it certainly wasn't me. And as I say, it's not the same place we went, it's over a mile away.0 -

This isn't strictly true. It is possible for transactions to be notified at a later date. On their old forum there were plenty of examples of people advising of transactions not always being instant and showing up/being notified days later.
Whilst this is a small % of transactions, not everything will show up instantly.0 -
Are the two Chicken shops part of the same chain? Could they be using one account for more than one premises payments? You buy in A, but it shows as spending in B? Just a thought. How's it going, AKA, Nutwatch? - 12 month spends to date = 2.60% of current retirement "pot" (as at end May 2025)0
