Reported UC overpayment a year ago... nothing happened

I believe I was overpaid UC a year ago, I immediately reported and they said they would get in contact in the next couple months but they never did.
I believe I was overpaid again around August, reported it in September, but once again, I've heard nothing.
Should I just leave it sitting in my account forever? Because I'd love to spend it!

  • I'd leave it in an account for now.

    Perhaps you weren't overpaid :)

What makes you think you were?

Did you report it on your journal?

I got more than usual in August.
Last year they kept underpaying me, then when they paid it all back they gave me too much.
I did indeed, I just wish they'd let me know.

I suspect that nothing will happen, unless you raise the issue and someone manually calculates each assessment period going back in time. Perhaps your details for August were different e.g. Less or no employment income taken into account.

UC is a bit different to previous benefits, where each assessment period is calculated individually, taking into account a lot of different factors.
The comments I post are personal opinion. Always refer to official information sources before relying on internet forums. If you have a problem with any organisation, enter into their official complaints process at the earliest opportunity, as sometimes complaints have to be started within a certain time frame.
